Welcome to Norway! Or at least a small part of it.
This blog will be about what's going on in my little part of Norway. Where that little part is, I'm saving for a later post.
Some random stuff about me: I'm a 23 year old guy that lives a rather boring life, but I hope that this blog will help me be less boring by showing you this wonderful country. My hobbies are computers and cars, so I'll probably get some posts up about that too.
So, I live in Norway. And I got to say it is a great country to live in, but most things like food, clothes, fuel and alcohol is rather expensive. I am lucky and live in a part of the country that is close to Sweden, where everything is much cheaper.
Some things that I find great by living here is: we got low crime rates, at least for murder and those kind of crimes, the whole country got beautiful nature, free health care, free school, not hit that hard by the economic crisis and most people are payed okay in their jobs (although many complain about the pay grades because they can't afford that second car or some other stupid thing they don't really need).
Some random info on Norway.
With a population just over 5 million, we are not the biggest nation. The majority of the people live in the cities in the southern part of Norway. Oslo, which is the capital and the biggest city in the country only got about 610 000 citizens, which is about the size of Boston I think. It is not a huge country, but it is very long. From the southernmost point to the northernmost point it is arround 3000 kilometers.
It is very cold in Norway. We got winter from arround the end of October to the end of April, although spring usually comes earlier the southern you are. The summer comes at the end of June and is gone by the beginning of August, and the average temperature in the summer is 20-22 degreeds celcius (68-72 Fahrenheit). Not very hot in the summer and in the winter it is really cold, usually between minus 3 to minus 10 degrees celcius (26-14 Fahreheit), but it can be colder, and it usually is, if you live up north.
And enough about the weather, hehe. The nature in Norway is really beautiful. Some of the best scenery is the fjords and the surrounding mountains. There is also an amazing coastline whit alot of islands, perfect in the summer for sunbathing, fishing, camping and just chilling.
I could write much, much more about Norway, but instead I am going to show you this country in many of the next posts that will come up here in the next days, weeks and months some time in the future.
Stay tuned! Maybe you would want to visit Norway someday!
Chriss
